Premiere of the documentary Antonio Mairena, la raíz del cante. Paco Millán. Spain, 2023, 70 min.

40 years have passed since the death of one of the greatest artists the world of flamenco has ever produced, Antonio Mairena. Through the eyes of ShaunTrack, a music populariser on social networks, this documentary takes an in-depth look at the figure of the flamenco singer and flamencologist from Mairena del Alcor. In a rigorous, but at the same time modern and different way, it brings us closer not only to his facet as an artist but also to his great work as the father of Flamencology. ShaunTrack carries out a detailed and exhaustive analysis of the artist, travelling through the main milestones of his life, starting from his great recognition: the Golden Key of Flamenco Singing to his great work to achieve the recognition of flamenco in the university environment.

Tuesday, 10 September, 20.30 h.
La Singla. Paloma Zapata. Spain, 2023, 95 min.

A filmmaker is fascinated by the art of a flamenco dancer after seeing archive material from the 1960s and decides to research her. The search leads her to Antonia Singla, a dancer who was born on the Somorrostro beach in Barcelona and went deaf shortly after birth. At the age of 17 she became an international cult dancer, but when she turned 30 she abruptly disappeared from the stage without a trace. Behind her fascinating look, Singla hid a tragic story. Determined to unveil it, Paloma Zapata rescues from oblivion a woman who was ahead of her time, unjustly erased from history and who made a great contribution to flamenco, gypsy culture and the deaf community.

Tuesday, 17 September, 20.30 h.
Fernanda and Bernarda. Rocío Martín. Spain, 2023, 95 min.

A documentary that traces the life and work of Fernanda and Bernarda, two essential flamenco artists: "our Aretha Franklin and our Bessie Smith. Our Ella Fitzgerald and our Billie Holidays". This film tells us the story of their lives and shows us a work and a human dimension that is difficult to compare.

Tuesday, 24 September, 20.30 h.
Carmen and María. Two paths and a look. Produced by the Princess of Asturias Foundation. Spain, 2024, 41 min.

On the occasion of the Princess of Asturias Award for the Arts 2022, the flamenco singer Carmen Linares and the dancer María Pagés will perform together again twenty-five years after they last did so. And, to do so, they have created the flamenco show Carmen y María. Dos caminos y una mirada (Carmen and María. Two paths and one look). This documentary, filmed during rehearsals and participation in the activities organised by the Princess of Asturias Foundation, reflects the personal vision of flamenco of these two great artists.

Tuesday, 1 October, 20.30 h.
Paraíso de Cristal. Susanne Zellinger and Natalie Halla. Austria 2022, 73 min.

The documentary 'Paraíso de Cristal' shows a current and unique image of the coexistence between gypsies and gypsies that contradicts all stereotypes and prejudices. Through flamenco, the gypsies of Andalusia have found their place in society and proudly carry the name of their ethnic group. Five protagonists show that coexistence without conflict is possible and that art plays an essential role in this.
