The director of the Cervantes Institute, Luis García Montero, and the Colombian Minister of Culture, Juan David Correa, have met with the aim of strengthening collaboration between the two cultural institutions.

The two men discussed the renewal of the agreement that the Cervantes Institute and the Colombian Caro y Cuervo Institute, whose offices in Madrid are located at the Cervantes headquarters in Madrid, have maintained since 2014. Thanks to this cooperation, linguistic and cultural projects such as the "Diccionario de colombianismos" have been carried out.

At the meeting they also discussed the creation of Colombian cultural links in the Cervantes Institutes in various countries, mainly in Africa and Asia, the two continents where the number of Spanish speakers or students is expected to grow the most, as well as other possible joint initiatives to strengthen Spanish internationally as a language of scientific knowledge.
