The universe of Frida Kahlo

This is not just another book about Frida Kahlo for several reasons. First, because 'El universo Frida Kahlo', co-published by Editorial RM and the Frida Kahlo Museum, contains nearly 300 images, many of which are unpublished and were kept for 50 years in "Frida's room", which, at Diego Rivera's request, was not opened until 2007.
Secondly, because the 12 essays are signed by specialists in the artist and include reflections and images from the archives of the Museo Frida Kahlo, from the creation of La Casa Azul, the letters to Diego from Paris or the rituals of Frida's dress.
Thirdly, because it is an unprecedented study, the product of five years of research and analysis of Diego and Frida's archives.
And fourthly, because it is a very carefully bound hardback edition, with photographs of her, her surroundings, her clothes, her life with Diego and her work, and at an affordable price of 55 euros.
This volume welcomes us into the universe of Frida Kahlo through an exploration of all aspects of the legacy of this indispensable figure of 20th century art and culture.
"The Diego and Frida archives were released between 2003 and 2007. It took almost three years of specialised classification of the thousands of objects (...), including photographs, textiles, jewellery, letters, newspaper clippings, drawings, propaganda posters and works of art (...). These pieces have provided a wealth of information about the couple," said Jessica Maricarmen Serrano Bandala, Director of Financial Education and Cultural Promotion, Fideicomiso Museos Diego Rivera y Frida Kahlo, Banco de México.
