The German government will finance with 701.3 million euros several projects related to energy efficiency, the development of renewable energies and water management in Morocco, according to a joint German-Moroccan statement on Thursday.

The funding, partly in the form of grants and partly in loans, was signed on Wednesday by Moroccan Finance Minister Mohammed Benchaaboun and the German Ambassador in Rabat, Gotz Schmidt. The set of agreements represents one of the most expensive German projects in Morocco, and involves the launch of a new German cooperation program in the Maghreb country called "Partnership for Reform".

This new programme consists of a series of very broad objectives, including reform of the financial sector, improvement of the business and investment climate and strengthening of regionalisation, all with the aim of developing the private sector and promoting sustainable growth which, in turn, generates jobs
