Iberdrola España facilitates card payment in its recharging network
Iberdrola España has begun to incorporate payment by bank card throughout its public recharging network. The company, which is making a gradual transition and has already incorporated this modality in 40% of its more than 8,000 chargers, will complete the installation throughout its network before next summer.
In this way, Iberdrola España offers more facilities for use at its recharging points, all of which use 100% green energy from renewable sources with a guarantee of origin certificate (GdOs). This action is a further commitment by the company to promote electric mobility, the only emission-free option that also enables progress in energy independence.
Users of the Iberdrola network could recharge using the Iberdrola Public Recharge App. The most highly valued in the sector, this application offers a simple registration process and allows users to access different functionalities, such as checking the status of the chargers in real time, reserving the one they wish to use or planning their route by obtaining information on the chargers where they need to stop during the planned journey.
The company is currently in the process of adding card payment, which can be done through two types of solutions. On the one hand, the company is installing a physical terminal in the highest-powered chargers, which the customer can use like any other payment terminal. On the other hand, in the lower power chargers, payment is made via a web page that the customer can access after scanning a QR code.
In both cases, as when payment is made via the App, users have the possibility of obtaining a simplified bill if required. In addition, for any queries that may arise during the process, customers have access to the customer service telephone number, which is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
The most extensive network in Spain
With more than 8,000 points in operation, Iberdrola España's public charging network is the most extensive in Spain. Its public infrastructure design is developed on highways and corridors as well as in cities and small towns with the aim of having at least one fast charging station every 50 km or less.
The mobility plan, launched by the company in 2016, was pioneering in its implementation. Today, its strategy envisages the installation of more than 100,000 charging points by 2025, including public charging points, residential, companies and car parks.
The company also has 45,000 private recharging points, between its network of companies and its domestic network, where Iberdrola has the most competitive tariff in the sector, allowing 1,000 km to be covered for 5 euros.
