The 2025 Zangarun charity race returned on Sunday to the town of Ricobayo in Zamora, which welcomed more than 300 athletes and hikers who once again supported this initiative that combines mountain athletics with the promotion of tourism in one of the most beautiful and emblematic spots in the province.

This charity event, which received special support from Iberdrola Spain, the Muelas del Pan Town Council, the Zamora Provincial Council and the Caja Rural de Zamora Foundation, raised around 3,000 euros for research into rare diseases.

The proceeds from this latest edition of one of the sporting competitions that arouses the most interest among trail running enthusiasts have been donated in full to the Corriendo con el Corazón por Hugo association.

The town of Ricobayo was the setting for this sporting event, which welcomed participants from all over Castile and León, as well as Galicia and Portugal and, of course, Zamora, which once again threw itself into the sport ‘with the most heart’.

Iberdrola Spain also wanted to highlight the charitable nature of this initiative and its compliance with the SDGs integrated into its business strategy, focusing on goal number 3, contributing to improving the health and well-being of the people of Zamora through physical activity and sport.

The head of Institutional Relations at Iberdrola Spain in Castile and León, Ignacio Antolin, reiterated ‘the company's commitment to the province of Zamora due to its deep ties to this land, where it was founded more than 120 years ago and from where it is driving the energy transition towards renewable and competitive energies that promote rural development that is sustainable and responsible towards the environment and society’.
