Indra consolidates its position as NATO's strategic partner in the field of cyber defence
Indra, invited by NATO's Allied Command Transformation (ACT), demonstrated the concept and capabilities of a new state-of-the-art Cyber Situational Awareness System at one of the world's largest collective cyber defence exercises, the Cyber Coalition 2024 held in Estonia on 2-6 December.
The platform (called CySAS, Cyber Situational Awareness System) provides a real-time view of operations being conducted in and through cyberspace by both allies and adversaries. The system analyses events occurring in cyberspace and assesses their impact on the mission's course of action to ensure mission success.
In this way, it offers a global vision of enormous value, which helps to make the best decisions and to react more quickly to any situation affecting an operation in execution.
Indra has led the deployment of this concept and capability in the exercise, with the participation of Airbus (France) and Leonardo (Italy) as strategic subcontractors.
The test and experimentation campaign, driven by NATO's ACT, has benefited from the collaboration of the Allied Command Operations (ACO), the Spanish Joint Cyberspace Command (MCCE) and the Allied Joint Force Command Naples (JFCNP).
The feedback from the NATO community and other stakeholders during the Cyber Coalition 24 demonstration was very positive and the lessons learned will be used to further refine the concept, with the ultimate goal of securing the most advanced capabilities for the Alliance.
Indra's leadership in this initiative underscores the company's confidence in driving NATO's Digital Transformation and Cyberspace Operations Strategy. The conceptualisation of this capability facilitates NATO's readiness to conduct operations in both the cyberspace domain and in multi-domain scenarios, where cyber defence is present and critical.
Indra's role in this project is complemented by its role as coordinator of the EU's ECYSAP (European Cyber Situational Awareness Platform) project, one of the first and most important cyber defence initiatives promoted by the EU.
This European project will now be continued with ECYSAP EYE, in which Indra will coordinate the development of even more advanced capabilities, which will in turn reinforce the capabilities of the European Union's Command and Control System currently under development.
All these projects contribute to strengthening Europe's and NATO's technological sovereignty and strategic autonomy and demonstrate Indra's ability to articulate and coordinate consortia that drive the development of cutting-edge technologies and deliver new capabilities. In doing so, it advances towards achieving the objectives set out in Indra's strategic plan, Leading the Future, to become a benchmark company in the sector that acts as a driving force for industry.
