Indra presents at the Global Mobility Call the pioneering cloud platform deployed in DGT's traffic centres
As the successful bidder of the contract for the development, implementation and evolutionary adaptation of a corporate SCADA and videostreaming system in the Traffic Management Centres and the incorporation of functionalities under a cloud model within the scope of the General Directorate of Mobility Management and Technology (SGGMT) of the General Directorate of Traffic (DGT), Indra is developing and deploying the DGT's traffic management platform and SCADA infrastructure in the Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud for the DGT.
This pioneering project places the DGT at the forefront of the world and brings with it numerous advantages in terms of security, efficiency and sustainability.
This innovative technological solution, presented at the Global Mobility Call, one of the most important events in the mobility sector, integrates data from all types of intelligent transport systems (ITS) and Floating Car Data (FCD), centralises data from the eight centres spread throughout Spain, enriches it with data from other sources of interest, processes and analyses it, and offers the information in an accessible and secure way to operators for more effective decision-making.
In addition to reducing hardware infrastructure costs and facilitating the management and maintenance of services, deployment in the cloud allows, among other advantages, the possibility of redundancy. This system has been developed under the exhaustive technical requirements set out in the specifications governing the contract in which Indra has been awarded the contract and represents an important paradigm shift in the approach to secure and connected mobility.
Cybersecurity management represents one of the most relevant aspects for the achievement of the objectives set out in the platform and in the field of public administrations, which is why it concentrates a significant amount of the resources contributed to the project.
This management is carried out by means of a system of permissions based on profiles with different levels of access, which ensures the highest levels of security in all procedures. The system places special emphasis on guaranteeing the highest standards of cybersecurity in the design and implementation of the project, as endorsed by the National Security Scheme (ENS) certification obtained, which ensures strict control and protection of information in accordance with current regulations.
The DGT SCADA system also integrates a videostreaming and video recording platform, which allows the images captured by roadside video surveillance cameras to be uploaded to the cloud in real time, as well as video from DGT helicopters and drones.
The aim is to enable the secure dissemination of video to third parties, as well as the continuous recording and storage of images for possible analysis and subsequent use.
Manuel López Villena, Director of Traffic and Infrastructures in Indra Group's Mobility business, explains: ‘We are proud to lead this technological revolution together with DGT. Thanks to this project, the DGT has a centralised, secure and highly efficient system that will contribute to improve traffic management, road safety and the service provided to citizens’.
Indra Group's Mobility business is strengthened by this pioneering digital transformation project for the DGT, in addition to the MiDGT App that it developed in collaboration with Minsait and the DGT's IT Management.
