Morocco consolidates its position as a booming destination with tourism in full growth

Morocco continues to consolidate its position as a leading tourist destination worldwide, registering impressive growth in the number of visitors. At the end of February 2025, the country recorded almost 2.7 million arrivals at its border posts, representing an increase of 24% compared to the same period in 2024. In February alone, there were nearly 1.4 million visits, an increase of 22% compared to the same month last year.
This significant increase has added 521,000 additional tourists in just two months, reflecting Morocco's success in attracting visitors from various key source markets. The positive trend is due both to the 18% increase in the arrival of foreign tourists, with 119,000 more visitors, and to the 26% growth in the number of Moroccans living abroad who returned to the country, with an increase of 130,000 entries.
An expanding sector
The remarkable performance of the Moroccan tourism sector not only reinforces its international appeal, but also provides a significant boost to the national economy. In this sense, the Minister of Tourism, Fatim-Zahra Ammor, highlighted the importance of this growth by pointing out that ‘the incorporation of half a million visitors in just two months underlines Morocco's place among the world's top destinations’.
She also emphasised the positive impact on job creation and the development of the country's regions. ‘Every visitor who chooses Morocco plays a direct role in boosting the economies of our regions, creating jobs and supporting the inclusion of young people. This growth benefits the entire ecosystem and reflects the continued success of Morocco's tourism strategy,’ she explained.
The Kingdom exceeded its tourism target by welcoming 17.4 million visitors in 2024, two years ahead of the date originally planned for 2026. This milestone reinforces the importance of tourism as a cornerstone of the national economy and demonstrates the effectiveness of the strategies implemented to boost the sector.

Rabat is committed to the modernisation of tourism
To guarantee the continuity of this growth, the Ministry of Tourism and the Moroccan Tourist Office (ONMT) have intensified their efforts in the development and modernisation of the sector. Through strategic initiatives, such as collaborations with international travel agencies and airlines, Morocco seeks to maintain its position as a leading tourist destination.
With a diverse cultural and natural offering, expanding infrastructure and well-defined promotional strategies, Morocco continues to attract tourists from all over the world, consolidating its position as one of the most dynamic and booming destinations on the global scene.
