The Saharawi Association for the Defence of Human Rights (ASADEDH) denounced in an official statement the death in strange circumstances in an Algerian prison of the Saharawi prisoner Mohamed Salem Nafii, a resident of the Tindouf camps. The Association continues to denounce the repression exercised by the Polisario Front against Saharawi refugees and opponents, under the protection of Algeria.

The official statement of ASADEDH is reproduced below:

Through this statement this association, the Saharawi Association for the Defence of Human Rights (ASADEDH), we denounce the death in strange circumstances in the Algerian prison of the Saharawi prisoner and inhabitant of the Tindouf camps, the young Mohamed Salem Nafii.

Mohamed Salem Nafii

At the same time we show all our solidarity and support to his family, who until now have refused to collect the mortal remains of the deceased until the real causes of his death are clarified.

For this reason and for all the human rights violations that are being committed daily in the Tindouf camps and the hardening lately against our defenceless civilian population, we call upon the whole international community, as well as all the living forces and international organisations to condemn and put pressure to put an end to these acts.

At the same time, we once again hold the leadership of the Polisario Front and the Algerian regime responsible for these violations, since these acts are committed on their national territory.
