Fighting against anti-regime groups in western Iran leaves three dead

According to the official Iranian agency IRNA, the Revolutionary Guard Army, through a written statement, reported that "this week, three terrorists were killed in two successful operations against anti-regime terrorist groups in Kamyaran and Merivan regions, and three members of the organisation were injured". "One of the injured was captured by the security forces," he added.
The agency reported that the captured member was a foreign citizen. In addition, many weapons, ammunition and communication devices were seized.
The statement did not say whether there were any casualties on the Iranian side, nor was information shared about the organisation to which the armed groups belong, which are called "anti-regime terrorist groups".
On Monday, it was announced that two Iranian soldiers lost their lives in two separate clashes between the security forces and the arm of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) in Iran, the PJAK and a group of smugglers in the province of Western Azerbaijan in the north-west of Iran.
The border provinces between Iran, Turkey and Iraq are the usual places of confrontation between anti-regime groups and smugglers.
The Revolutionary Guard Ground Force (IRGC) announced in September that it had conducted a series of large-scale multi-front military operations against terrorist group positions along the country's north-western borders.
The operations used drones, artillery fire and smart missiles, killing and injuring a large number of key counter-revolutionary elements active in the area.
IRGC forces are regularly engaged in confrontations with terrorists attempting to infiltrate the borders and carry out acts of sabotage throughout the country. In recent years, the country's Kurdistan province has witnessed numerous cross-border incursions by terrorists based in Iraq.
A statement from the Hamzeh Seyed al-Shohada base said that several "counter-revolutionary" terrorists were killed during the clashes in the county of Divandarreh in May, without providing a specific number.
