Indra will deploy its A-CDM/i-AOP platform to improve safety and efficiency at Helsinki Airport for Finavia

Indra has signed a strategic alliance with Finnish airport operator Finavia to implement its A-CDM/i-AOP (Airport Collaborative Decision Making/initial Airport Operations Plan) collaborative decision-making system at Helsinki Airport, the country's main airport, with the aim of optimising the management of airport ground operations and aircraft turnarounds prior to take-off. Indra will also be responsible for the maintenance and future development of the system until 2031.
The new A-CDM/i-AOP system will enable Finavia, which manages 20 airports in Finland, to have greater visibility and predictability of flights by detecting possible schedule deviations in advance; minimise operational congestion, helping to increase airport capacity; and guarantee savings in operating and fuel costs, with a consequent reduction in CO2 emissions. All this will also improve the passenger experience by reducing delays and making flight times more predictable.
Indra's platform will be deployed in the cloud, will be cyber-secure and will incorporate data analytics and digitalisation for more efficient use of data collected from other systems and for the automation of operational processes, even under extreme winter weather conditions. The solution integrates de-icing processes, a very important aspect in countries with a boreal climate such as Finland, to minimise the impact on rotations and ground operations.
Indra's A-CDM solution will help those involved in the collaborative decision-making process to increase their knowledge and better manage operations, thanks to a flexible solution adapted to different devices, including the mobile interface.
Indra's A-CDM/i-AOP solution will be fully integrated with the Network Manager to share flight arrival and departure information and issue alerts and notifications. It will also be integrated and certified by Eurocontrol and will comply 100% with the specifications of the SESAR programme, which promotes the Single European Sky, and with the new European regulation that requires major European airports to have this high level of integration and be A-CDM/i-AOP compliant by 2027. In this way, the project will also contribute to optimising air traffic flow in Europe.
‘We are delighted with our collaboration with Indra. An efficient flow of information ensures that airport operations and flights run as planned, which benefits both the economy and the customer experience,’ said Jani Elasmaa, Vice President of Finavia, responsible for platform and runway operations at Helsinki Airport.
‘We are committed to helping Finavia adopt industry best practices and adapt to new European regulations, making Helsinki Airport one of the continent's leaders and most technologically advanced, thanks to the use of the latest digital technologies, such as data-based technology, cloud computing and cybersecurity,’ said Lidia Muñoz Pérez, Commercial Director, Ports and Airports at Indra.
This project reinforces Indra's position as a global leader in advanced airport management technology, with a solution that stands out for its reliability, even in extreme winter weather conditions, and strengthens its relationship with Finavia, to which it has been supplying air navigation systems for three decades.
