La Fiscalía de España participa en proyecto de apoyo a la Fiscalía de Marruecos

The Spanish Public Prosecutor's Office is taking a decisive part in a European Commission programme to support the Moroccan Public Prosecutor's Office with the aim of strengthening the judicial and fiscal system and providing greater support for the rule of law.
The Attorney General of the State, Álvaro García Ortiz, participated in Rabat in the presentation and launch of the European Commission's project to support the Presidency of the Moroccan Public Prosecutor's Office, which will be developed by the Spanish Public Prosecutor's Office over the next two years. Álvaro García Ortiz took advantage of his presence in the Rabat capital to meet with his Moroccan counterpart, Moulay Hassan Daki, in the presence of the Prosecutor General for International Cooperation, Francisco Jiménez Villarejo; the Chief Prosecutor of the Support Unit of the Attorney General's Office, Esmeralda Rasillo, and the liaison magistrate between the two countries, Pedro Félix Álvarez de Benito, as reported by the Attorney General's Office itself in an official communiqué.
Along with the Attorney General, the presentation of the project was attended by the Ambassador of the European Union in Morocco, Patricia Llombart; the Spanish Ambassador, Ricardo Díez-Hochleitner; the Chief Prosecutor of the Anti-Drugs Prosecutor's Office, Rosa Ana Morán, and the resident advisor, the Prosecutor María del Mar Ramos.

The initiative is part of the European Commission's Sectoral Support Programme for Justice Reform, which seeks to strengthen the rule of law. In an official communiqué, the Attorney General's Office stated that it "places its experience and knowledge at the disposal of the European Union and the Moroccan Public Prosecutor's Office to contribute to its legal and institutional strengthening", with the intention of "advancing in the improvement of the systems and in the acquisition of minimum standards of action and protection of rights and freedoms, as well as in greater efficiency in the organisation and management of the Moroccan Public Prosecutor's Office".

Along these lines, the Spanish Public Prosecutor's Office contributes its experience and knowledge to the European Commission and the Moroccan Public Prosecutor's Office so that legal activity and judicial institutions are strengthened in the North African country. The aim of this initiative is to improve the organisation of the Moroccan legal system and the Moroccan Public Prosecutor's Office and to make progress in improving the systems and in acquiring minimum standards of action and protection of rights and freedoms.
The programme will strengthen international legal cooperation to combat various forms of crime, especially drug trafficking, the financing of terrorism, human trafficking and trafficking in human beings. The aim is to strengthen mechanisms for the transnational prosecution of criminals, the gathering of evidence or the confiscation of assets.
