Al Suwaidi, UAE Ambassador to Spain: "Investing in youth means investing in the country's security and growth

As has been the case in times of pandemics, new meetings and discussions are being held on social networks. The Embassy of the United Arab Emirates in Spain has used this avenue to celebrate International Youth Day through the "Investing in Youth" debate. The UAE Ambassador to Spain, Majid Al Suwaidi and the President of the Spanish Youth Council, Manuel Ramos, have been invited to this event.

In his speech, the ambassador stressed the importance of investing in young people, both in education and in professional opportunities because "investing in youth means investing in the security, stability and growth of the country".

The UAE is a young country where more than 2,000 nationalities live together, which makes it a country where there is great tolerance towards others and where there is a great cultural exchange among young people.

As investing in youth is investing in the future of the country, the UAE Government is cooperating with young people so that they can have a promising future that will undoubtedly benefit the country.

For his part, Manuel Ramos, President of the Youth Council, a body representing young people in Spain, explained that Spain and the UAE have a very important difference: if the UAE is a young country, Spain is a country where most of the population is over 50, so it is an aging nation and where, in addition, youth has suffered two major crises: that of 2008 and the COVID-19. Young people have been one of the groups hardest hit by this situation, as aid has not been sufficient for recovery.

Despite this, both agree that the role of youth in overcoming the crisis that the world is experiencing is crucial. In addition to taking the lead in the ecological and digital transition to contribute to the better development of society towards a new way of life that is better adapted to the challenges.
