CaixaForum+ premieres a new channel in collaboration with L'Auditori

On 16 March, CaixaForum+ is adding a new channel to its offer thanks to its collaboration with L'Auditori de Barcelona. For its launch, this new channel includes four major concerts and the premiere of new episodes of the Offstage series, which takes us beyond the stage to get to know the musicians.

The Offstage series is created by L'Auditori de Barcelona and aims to show the most personal facets and artistic concerns of the most stimulating creators on the current scene. The pieces establish a fertile dialogue between musicians and leading figures from other disciplines such as culture, art and sport. The unpublished episodes that the new channel premieres this week are starring:

  • Anja Bihlmaier (orchestra conductor) and Laia Palau (former captain of the Spanish national basketball team).
  • Xavier Sabata (countertenor) and Daniel Riera (fashion photographer)
  • Quartet Casals (string quartet) and Jaume Plensa (visual artist and sculptor who recently directed and premiered Verdi's opera Macbeth at the Liceu)
  • Antonio Ruz (choreographer) and Cesc Casades√ļs (choreographer, dancer and director of the GREC Festival).

The channel also includes four major concerts that have taken place in the last seasons of this musical institution:

  • The opera Amadigi di Gaula (1715), by H√§ndel, with N√ļria Rial and Xavier Sabata, conducted by Dani Espasa.
  • MAP & Symphonic Band: MAP, the jazz supergroup formed by pianist Marco Mezquida, saxophonist Ernesto Aurignac and drummer Ramon Prats (undoubtedly one of the most interesting groups on the Spanish jazz scene), joins the Banda Municipal de Barcelona to give a new dimension to their repertoire.

  • Haydn-Zemlinsky-Magran√©: Kazushi Ono conducts the Orquesta Sinf√≥nica de Barcelona y Nacional de Catalu√Īa in a concert whose repertoire includes Haydn's Symphony No. 49 (1768) (known as "La passione"); Lyrische Symphony, op. 18 (1922-1923), by Alexander Zemlinsky and Obreda (2020), by Joan Magran√©.
  • Brahms-Oliu-Haydn: Juanjo Mena conducts the Orquesta Sinf√≥nica de Barcelona y Nacional de Catalu√Īa in a concert whose repertoire includes Brahms' Symphony No. 3 ("Frei aber Froh", 1883); Haydn's Symphony No. 44 ("Trauer", 1772) and the world premiere of In luce Praesentis ("In the light of the present", 2021), by Miquel Oliu, from Barcelona.
Poetic Recital: The Beauty of the Husband

Two prestigious Spanish film and theatre performers, Aitana S√°nchez-Gij√≥n (Parallel Mothers) and Jos√© Luis Garc√≠a-P√©rez (Cachorro), star in this multidisciplinary poetry recital based on one of the most characteristic works of the Canadian Anne Carson, 2020 Princess of Asturias Award for Literature. The Beauty of the Husband. A Narrative Essay in 29 Tangos (2019), the author's first work published in Spain, is an unclassifiable chronicle of the breakdown of a marriage.

In this recital created by the Princess of Asturias Foundation and staged by Francisco Pardo, Carson's poetry is fused with visual projections and tango music performed live by bandoneonist Nicolás Córdoba.
