CIFAL Málaga presents AgendadODS, a collaborative partnership with Funddatec and CIEDES Foundation

Sustainable development objectives

The Agenda 2030 programme and Sustainable Development Goals (SDAs) do not stop, in fact, the coronavirus crisis has made clear the importance of meeting these goals and promoting more sustainable development in all sectors. Therefore, CIFAL Málaga continues to expand its network of agreements and has presented the initiative AgendadODS, a collaborative partnership with Funddatec and CIEDES Foundation to promote the implementation of ODS in both the public sector and private companies

The main objective of this new multilateral agreement is to establish information, awareness and sensitisation mechanisms that will result in greater implementation of ODS in companies. Moreover, one of the most important goals that have been set is that this implementation of ODS will not remain exclusively in the public sector, but that the three organisations will work together so that the private sector, both large corporations and SMEs, include the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals in their plans.

To this end, multiple workshops, courses, training activities, as well as advisory services will be carried out by the three organizations. The aim is to create a methodology of their own that serves as a guide for all sectors, with a special emphasis on SMEs. These types of companies bear a very important weight in the local and regional economy, so it is necessary to promote the awareness of this sector regarding ODS and help them to implement these objectives in their work processes. To facilitate this entire roadmap, the three organisations have agreed to create an ODS Observatory, whose main task will be to support and promote social transformation through the guidelines set out in Agenda 2030.

A new business reality after COVID-19

For the presentation of this new collaborative partnership, CIFAL Málaga organised a free virtual meeting with the participation of: Antonio Retamero, director of Funddatec, María del Carmen García Peña, managing director of the CIEDES Foundation, and Julio Andrade, director of CIFAL Málaga.

In addition to presenting and discussing this new partnership of CIFAL Málaga, the topic of the coronavirus crisis took up an important part of the webinar. This crisis is not only affecting health, but has also affected the economy and society. The new business reality that will emerge after the coronavirus is one of the most urgent issues to be addressed and of most concern.

How is the coronavirus going to affect the business world? What paradigm shifts are going to occur? How can ODS help in this new business reality? These are some of the questions that were the focus of this part of the virtual debate, which was advised by five experts in business and technology: Natalia Sánchez, Secretary General of the Confederation of Businessmen of Malaga (CEM), Vanesa Rodríguez, Director of Communication and Institutional Relations at the Spanish Network of the Global Compact, Sonia Palomo, Deputy Director of Technology Transfer and International Relations at the Technology Park of Andalusia (PTA), Enrique Colilles, Director General of TROPSFruit Production and Marketing and Javier Ortiz, CEO & Co-Founder at Sextaplanta, Digital Tourism Agency.

According to the opinion held by the aforementioned experts, the importance that technological adaptation of companies will have in the future as an essential requirement for their continuity was made clear at the meeting. On the other hand, according to Enrique Colilles, this crisis has served to strengthen the local economy to a great extent and to make society aware of the benefits of increased consumption of local products; a key point in terms of sustainability contemplated in the ODS. In short, the new reality that is emerging involves a more collaborative and sustainable business network that generates social welfare and is closely linked to new technologies.
