Juan Pons, new member of the Academy of Military Arts and Sciences

The Academy of Military Arts and Sciences has recently held its entrance ceremony in which new members were sworn in as academicians. Among them is Juan Pons, a defense and space affairs analyst to Atalayar. In addition to Pons, Alberto Ferrer Oliva, Lucía Pascual Coca, Francisco López Muñoz, Jerónimo Domínguez Bascoy, Susana García Ramírez, Adolfo Roldán Villén, Arturo García-Vaquero Pradal and Gonzalo León Serrano have also become new academicians of the institution. Professor Carmen Perales Garat, for her part, received the diploma accrediting her as a collaborator of the Academy.
The election of the academicians took place during the meeting of the direct board of the Academy on 17 April.
The new members received the medals 74 to 83 (medal 82 is still pending) during the event held in the assembly hall of the ETSIAN, the headquarters of the institution. The induction ceremony was attended by a large number of authorities and academics, as well as family and friends of the new members.
The president of the Academy, Army General Jaime Domínguez Buj, opened the ceremony. He was followed by the Secretary General, Major General Manfredo Monforte Moreno. During his speech, Monforte Moreno explained the process carried out to elect the new corresponding academicians, as well as the characteristics of their status and what the Academy expects from their contribution.
The secretary general then named the new members, who came forward in their order of admission to receive their academic medal and diploma. The new collaborator then received her diploma. At the same time, the name of each new member was read out, highlighting their notable merits and qualities.
Once the presentation was over, Major General (ET) Arturo García-Vaquero Pradal gave a heartfelt and grateful speech on behalf of the new corresponding academicians and the new collaborator.
Finally, the president addressed a few words to the new members of the Academy and closed the session, which concluded with the playing of the national anthem and the shouts of "Long live Spain" and "Long live the King", as is customary in the Academy's ceremonies. Afterwards, a wine of honour was served in the dining room of the ETSIAN.
