Marruecos conmemora su día nacional en la Expo Dubái 2020

The Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Morocco, Aziz Akhannouch has celebrated this year's National Day of the Alawi country outside its borders. The President, accompanied by Nadia Fettah, Minister of Economy and Finance, travelled to the United Arab Emirates to witness first-hand the celebrations at the Dubai 2020 Expo. Upon arrival, they were welcomed by Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority, Chairman of Dubai Airports, Chairman and CEO of Emirates Airline and Group, and Chairman of the Dubai Expo Higher Committee. He was accompanied by Dr Sultan bin Ahmed Al Jaber, Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology.
"I am sincerely grateful for the quality reception given to the Moroccan delegation, and I congratulate the UAE for its wonderful organisation of this universal exhibition. Our presence at Expo 2020 Dubai allows us to present our ancient heritage, plus our tourism, cultural and scientific achievements to the world," said the Moroccan Prime Minister upon arrival in the Gulf country.
The government leaders walked through the pavilion to the location where the Moroccan zone was located. Located in the Opportunity district, the Morocco pavilion offers visitors an immersive experience of the Kingdom, as the area mirrors the country's streets and features a Wast Eddar courtyard "the heart of home". There visitors can see the history, identity, achievements and vision for the future of the Alawite country through a unique experience that recreates the cities of the Maghreb. The pavilion's theme for Morocco at this exhibition is "Legacies for the future: from inspiring origins to sustainable progress".
Around the pavilion, the Moroccan Prime Minister said that Morocco is committed to contribute in various aspects with goals to establish a more secure and stable future. "Our pavilion is a platform to announce our new identity, 'Morocco Now' by highlighting Morocco's industrial and investment opportunities, particularly for foreign investment," Akhannouch added.
Afterwards Akhannouch and his guests were treated to an acrobatic display featuring the Moroccan Green March Patrol and a performance by Moroccan-Hungarian pianist Marouan Benabdalla, one of Morocco's most renowned pianists, who played tunes ranging from classical music to traditional songs from the Middle East and North Africa.
The Moroccan Prime Minister thanked the organisers of the exhibition for their commitment to the Kingdom. For his part, Al Jaber highlighted the good relations that exist between the two nations and the commitments that unite them. "We share with the Kingdom of Morocco a common history, strong relations, as well as a common framework and an active presence in the Arab and Islamic worlds; all of which serve as a solid basis for expanding partnerships and constructive collaboration for the benefit of our nations. The UAE continues to work to strengthen its relations with Morocco in intensifying cooperation in various sectors of mutual interest, such as energy, agriculture, industry, mining, tourism and others," the Sultan said. He added that the UAE is the largest Arab investor in the Maghreb country, with a total investment of $20 billion.
Also, Al Jaber dedicated a word of gratitude to King Mohammed VI who has participated greatly in the Dubai Expo 2020, and that reflects the ties that exist between the Emirates and Morocco.
Morocco's National Day is an emblematic holiday for the country, celebrating the anniversaries of King Mohammed VI's accession to the throne and highlighting the values of modernity that the monarch has been introducing in the Kingdom with measures for the development, aspiration and ambitions of the Moroccan people, under the pursuit of progress and the preservation of the integrity and consolidation of the nation. This year, the celebrations because of Covid-19 had to be online and the King addressed his citizens to share with them this important day.
