The ”la Caixa” Foundation and the European Social Fund allocate 27 million euros to youth employability
- Three calls for proposals to promote inclusion
- Fundación ”la Caixa”: believing in order to transform
The ”la Caixa” Foundation has selected 52 projects from social organisations through the “More Youth Employment” call for proposals, to which it will allocate more than 27 million euros co-financed by the European Social Fund Plus.
As an intermediary body of the European Social Fund Plus, the ”la Caixa” Foundation is promoting this call for proposals with the aim of promoting youth employability through the development of accredited training programmes.
The initiative, financed with 19.1 million from the European Union and 8.3 million from the ”la Caixa” Foundation, has a total budget of more than 27 million euros. It is aimed at non-profit organisations that develop training programmes for young people aged between 16 and 29 who are beneficiaries of the National Youth Guarantee System and have a level of education below upper secondary school or higher vocational training, or have no education.
The training programmes must have a highly practical focus and be closely aligned with the demands of the labour market and the business sector, with the aim of strengthening the key skills needed to access stable, quality employment.
'We want to accompany young people in vulnerable situations on their path to a better future. That is why, through this call for proposals, we are reinforcing our programmes' commitment to youth employment and equal opportunities. Together with the European Union, we are firmly committed to training as an essential lever for combating youth unemployment and reducing inequalities,' said Marc Simón, Deputy Director General of the ”la Caixa” Foundation.
Three calls for proposals to promote inclusion
The decision on the ‘More Youth Employment’ call for proposals joins two others already decided in 2024: ‘More Employment’ and ‘More Childhood’. All three have been promoted by the ”la Caixa” Foundation and the European Social Fund Plus, and together they have a budget of 124 million euros.
More Childhood promotes 68 social projects that develop socio-educational promotion pathways aimed at enhancing and strengthening opportunities for children and adolescents from disadvantaged backgrounds. The call for proposals has more than 48 million euros co-financed by the European Union and the ”la Caixa” Foundation.
More Employment supports 80 projects that promote individualised integration pathways. These include training to improve employability, job search and placement services, career guidance in the active search for employment and, in the event of successful integration, support and monitoring of the hiring process. This call for proposals has a budget of more than 48 million euros, also co-financed by the European Union and the ”la Caixa” Foundation.
Fundación ”la Caixa”: believing in order to transform
The promotion of the 'Más Empleo', 'Más Empleo Joven' and 'Más Infancia' calls for proposals reinforces Fundación ”la Caixa”’s commitment to people’s well-being, especially that of the most vulnerable groups.
In 2025, the ”la Caixa” Foundation has a budget of 655 million euros, the largest in its history, reinforcing its commitment to social transformation. This drive is part of the 2025-2030 Strategic Plan, which envisages a total investment of more than 4 billion euros by 2030, with a budget that will grow progressively to reach 800 million per year.
The organisation will focus its activity on three main areas: social issues, which will account for between 55% and 65% of the budget; research and scholarships; and culture. Priority social programmes include CaixaProinfancia, which combats child poverty; Incorpora, which focuses on job placement; the programme for comprehensive care for people with advanced illnesses; and initiatives for the elderly.
