The universities of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and Agadir collaborate in academic and research programmes

The rector of the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (ULPGC), Lluís Serra Majem, and the president of the University of Ibnou Zohr (UIZ) in Agadir, Abdelaziz Bendou, have signed a framework collaboration agreement for the development of joint academic and research programmes for a period of four years.
This agreement reflects the desire of both entities to establish a close collaboration to promote the fulfilment of common goals to achieve a better use of resources and greater efficiency in management, which will lead to better results in the programmes and actions to be undertaken for the development and dissemination of education and culture between the two institutions and for the development of higher education and scientific and technological research.
The Moroccan Consul in the Canary Islands, Dr. Fatiha El Kamouri, welcomed this agreement, which "will allow the Canary Islands and Morocco to create synergies that promote education at the highest level and to obtain better results and advances in research".

"From the Consulate we are working to foster a climate of collaboration between the two territories in different facets that allow us to take advantage of the geographical proximity and the strengths that the two regions have to grow together," added the consul.
Both universities will plan joint action programmes, exchanges of students, professors and researchers, training and improvement plans for teachers and researchers, and other types of activities that are important for the achievement of the objectives of the agreement.
At the end of the stipulated four-year period, the parties may extend it by express agreement for an additional period of up to four years.
