Cornered?

The RAE accepts two meanings for the use and application of the transitive verb to corner; the first meaning being 'To enclose or put cattle in the corral'. Also used as a pronominal; and the second one 'To enclose someone within narrow limits, preventing them from escaping' which has as similar words encircle, harass or attenuate.

Also, according to popular lore, when someone, voluntarily or involuntarily, gets into a dialectical, economic or social mess, it is said that they end up cornered by their own words, deeds or decisions.

Well, it can be said that this is what is happening to Sánchez and his entire government and the synchronised media paraphernalia that accompanies, applauds, praises and approves him. And, it can be affirmed that this situation is nothing more than the fruit of the tiredness that comes from a continuous and excessive use of changes of opinion or political and social orientation; of so many, varied and contradictory decisions adopted on the same case, act, subject or phenomenon and also, because there are already too many constant and unexpected changes of jacket and constantly changing sides in search of support at any price, so that all of this has inevitably ended up becoming a tremendous mess from which it is difficult for anyone, even for oneself, to get out of.

When one constantly manoeuvres to cover the innumerable exposed flanks that appear continuously and successively due to the great incompatibilities and differences of opinion with one's interested supporters or among themselves; whenever one has to say black and white on the same subject in a matter of hours or minutes; or if one is forced to change one's discourse depending on the geographical area one is in, and when the conflicting interests of one's interlocutors or personal supporters become insurmountable, the time comes when one or more conflicts break out and flare up.

It is of no use to have published and signed as one's own a book entitled 'resistance manual', to have a nimble waist or that the character's unconsciousness and bad faith have forced him or her to abandon the slightest sanity, decency and any degree of personal and collective shame. Nor is it a positive effect that the number of grateful, suckled and brainless characters in their midst remains numerous and constant.  There comes a time when, despite these circumstances, everything seems to fall apart.

Most of the many firewalls, patiently and tactfully placed around the character in question, have a validity and permanence that is neither infinite nor totally immune, unless we are talking about actions carried out by or in an absolutely dictatorial regime. In all other cases, there is always an element, a body, court or national or international power that keeps its honesty and convictions solid, that ensures compliance with its obligations, that has a clear idea of its role in a democracy and keeps the rules of the game intact, which is why sooner or later it ends up running up against this impenetrable wall and this leads it to be stopped in its tracks.

In short, they may even end up being tried and subjected to the weight of the law like any other ordinary citizen and even end up in prison or, at the very least, removed from office for a long period of time. There are many close and recent examples of very high castles, apparently either totally established or immovable, that have finally fallen down in a resounding way and many of them have ended up in prison or ostracised for life.

This is not a simple path, especially when the illustrious personage and his or her close entourage have little or no conscience, have sold out to luxury, easy money, fatuous fame or another series of hidden pleasures that escape me when I want to write them down, although not from my mind. But, in any case and in a very repeated way throughout history, one usually ends up falling under the weight of Law and Justice and all that artificial world of automatic defences and obscene and abhorrent victims who offer themselves to be immolated before and for the benefit of their leader or of calculated and poisoned answers and refusals are diluted like a sugar cube in the coffee or rooted one with the other, in such a way and in such a manner, that finally, the tangle formed is impossible to untangle and ends up suffocating the subject himself and his entourage.

Sánchez has been running wild for many years, ignoring warnings, bordering on the legal in his actions or decisions and abusing a form of legislation that should be reserved exclusively for cases of emergency, urgency or imperious necessity. He has signed pacts with the greatest enemies of Spain, and although he has tried to sell them as good and necessary for the coexistence of all Spaniards, they are not true at all, but a pure, grotesque and very personal necessity.

He has lied permanently inside and outside Spain, and precisely thanks to his underhanded way of lying and deceiving, he has been obtaining advantageous situations, which have allowed him to squander with his hands full, until soon - and not because of the acuteness of the European legislator, but because of the imperious general need - these times of prosperity will come to an end or are about to do so; just at a time when we will have very little capacity to react, due to the progress of the world economy and when our debt and deficit will be at unsuspected levels and very difficult to save. Positions that will undoubtedly mortgage the real economy of the Spanish people to the maximum, and it is therefore expected that at least two generations will be needed before we can begin to breathe.

The false impression of inviolability and total tolerance or permissiveness around themselves and their intimate or close group tends to lead them to take risks and explore new horizons of greatness and/or wealth for most of them; in such a way and in such a manner that, just as the works of others are presented with the signature of the satrap, official or particular socio-cultural or economic titles or organisations are created ad hoc in order to make easy money by contracting with official structures or creating new organisations of creative interest, in which, in addition to placing and making even more visible the popularity of certain figures in their environment - even knowing that they do not have the category or the courage or capacity to undertake an arduous task without the required and necessary preparation - they make possible and open the way to large contracts with official bodies or to the world of fame among the best in the chosen field, thus assuring them a future continuity, despite being a small fry in this or similar fields. The things or apparent 'successes' achieved in this way are neither natural nor real; they are totally dirty, fictitious and false, or simply a dishonest way of prevaricating or defrauding, as many of them are the result of the collection of previous or simultaneous favours at the expense of the public purse and the money of all Spaniards.

With certain frequency, errors of this type of fraudulent corruption, egocentrism and chauvinism, skirt problems, sexual deviance or the inappropriate hoarding of wealth or social fame without having the capacity or qualifications to do so, have led great figures into the world of darkness and all that is needed is a society that stops defending them and quietly follows them no matter what happens, that takes off its mask and calls for bread, bread wherever it comes from. Likewise, it is more than necessary and fundamental to have a firm, courageous and uncomplicated opposition that, without delay, brings all these deviations to public opinion with clarity and takes them to the necessary courts without stopping at revenge or objections and with the forcefulness and precision that each case requires.
