Cyrene, Libya's ancient jewel

‘Cyrene, the ancient jewel of Libya’, by Canal Acción Exterior, is a report that shows that, on the other side of the Mediterranean, to the West of the majestic Nile and to the East of ancient Carthage, lies a country as unknown as it is interesting: Libya.

Here lie the ruins of Cyrene, an ancient Greek and later Roman settlement that flourished in North Africa between the 7th and 1st centuries BC.

Libya is the fourth largest country in Africa, behind only Algeria, the Democratic Republic of Congo and Sudan, out of the 54 countries that make up the continent where humanity emerged thousands of years ago.
