Halal Market at the Berlin International Tourism Fair
The Three Cultures of the Mediterranean Foundation and its partners in the 'Halal Market' project are taking part in the International Tourism Fair (ITB), which is being held virtually until March 12. This project is co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) through the Interreg V-A Spain-Portugal Programme (POCTEP) 2014-2020.
This project action offers the possibility to four companies to participate in the ITB Berlin (Internationale Tourismus-Börse Berlin), the largest tourism fair in the world, where companies such as hotels, tourist offices, tour operators, airlines or car rental agencies, and a long list of companies in the tourism sector are represented.
Due to the global health crisis, this edition is not being held in person, but in a virtual format. The four participating companies have free access to all the activities programmed in the different virtual spaces and formats and, on the other hand, can exhibit their products and services to the rest of the participants.
Among the participating companies is the Umayyad Guadamecí House Museum. A unique space in the world, as it shows the recovery of the original Umayyad techniques of working on leather, for its use as decoration. Its founders, artists who researched the caliphal and sumptuary techniques used in 10th century Cordoba, bring together in this particular house-museum a large collection of pieces made of guadamecí as well as the workshop, in which both artists show visitors their mastery of this technique.
Aart select is a company from Seville specialised in tourist and cultural management, with an attractive interdisciplinary approach, in which professionalism, personalisation, trust and care make the difference, with a way of understanding the tourist experience that goes beyond passive visual consumption, offering exclusive and select tailor-made services.
Plata Cordobesa, a company dedicated to the design and manufacture of typical Cordovan filigree jewellery, also offers original and special experiences in which visitors can learn first-hand about the process of creating these small handcrafted pieces. The workshops are the perfect pretext to learn about the history of Cordoba through filigree, one of the oldest goldsmithing techniques in existence, which was introduced in the city during the time of the Caliphate.
Córdoba Luxury Experience specialises in luxury cultural, business and food and wine tourism experiences in Córdoba and its province. Based on a business concept that seeks to unite tourism, art and culture in a sustainable and respectful way, both for the spaces themselves and for the inhabitants of the city and its province, always taking into account the excellence of the experiences lived by the client from the concept of slow tourism.
In addition, this International Tourism Fair serves as a framework for the presentation of the explanatory video on this project, which has been made available to the public in Spanish, Portuguese and English.
This activity is developed within the framework of the 'Halal Market' project, and specifically linked to activity two of the same - 'Joint promotion and business marketing actions in halal matters' -, which aims to offer companies the opportunity to show their products and carry out B2B exchanges, in order to promote their internationalization.
