Cordoba, the Andalusian Qurțuba, is one of a group of cities whose importance in the history of the Mediterranean is obvious, as were Athens, Rome, Alexandria and Istanbul at different times. Its heyday is directly associated with the period when it was the metropolis of Al-Andalus, from the mid-8th century AD until the disintegration of the Caliphate in 1031.

Cordoba, the home of scientists and poets, became during this period a nucleus which collected, preserved and knew how to radiate classical Greco-Roman and Eastern knowledge even after its decline, becoming a platform for the Renaissance.

Virginia Luque Gallegos, a researcher on the historical connections between Al-Andalus and the Arab world, member of the Network of Experts in Cultural Heritage and of the Spanish Society of Arab Studies, talks about this city and those who populated it (from the famous Wallada, or Ibn Hazm, or Maimonides, but also many others) in her book - with rigour, and at the same time in an entertaining way - about Virginia Luque Gallegos, a researcher on the historical connections between Al-Andalus and the Arab world, a member of the Network of Experts in Cultural Heritage and of the Spanish Society of Arab Studies. Dedicated to consultancy and training in Cultural Management, Heritage and Museums, Virginia has produced and curated exhibitions and worked on cultural cooperation projects with Morocco.

In the presentation of her work she will be accompanied by Emilio González Ferrín, professor of Islamology at the University of Seville, dedicated to the cultural reading of Islam and its presence in Europe, such as Al-Andalus.
