The Three Cultures Foundation presents the first edition of COMICMED

An unprecedented meeting dedicated to the world of Mediterranean graphic novels and comics
El cartel de esta primera edición ha sido realizado por Nadia Hafid (Tarrassa, 1990), ilustradora de ascendencia marroquí cuyas obras han sido varias veces portada en ‘El País’, además de aparecer en artículos en medios internacionales como ‘The New York Times’, ‘The Economist’, ‘The New Yorker’ y ‘The Washington Post’, entre otros.
The poster for this first edition was created by Nadia Hafid (Tarrassa, 1990), an illustrator of Moroccan descent whose work has been featured several times on the front page of ‘El País’, as well as appearing in articles in international media such as ‘The New York Times’, ‘The Economist’, ‘The New Yorker’ and ‘The Washington Post’, among others.

The Three Cultures of the Mediterranean Foundation, with the collaboration of the National Digital Content Pole and Malaga City Council, presents the first edition of COMICMED, an unprecedented meeting that will address the world of graphic novels and comics produced in or linked to the Mediterranean, which will take place from 6 to 8 March at the Polo facilities in Tabacalera.

The programme for this event, featuring a host of important creators of the genre, combines conversations with authors, three practical workshops (for different age groups: adults, teenagers and children) and an innovative proposal that fuses comics with electronic music with a Moroccan flavour to the rhythm of DJ Hajar Lagranja. It is a diverse and heterogeneous proposal in which there will be much talk of comics, but also of new creative techniques, digital universes and fusion with other arts. An initiative in which, in addition, other entities and institutions have been involved, such as the Andalusian Centre of Letters, the Telefónica Foundation, the French Institute and the publishers Maeva, Edelvives, Norma Editorial, Apa Apa Cómics and Penguin Random House.

Access to all the festival's events will be free of charge upon registration via the Eventbrite platform. Likewise, those interested can purchase copies at the point of sale that the Cómic Stores shop will set up at the festival itself.
