The historian and teacher Julio Sanz has just published the book "1992. El año de España en el mundo", which analyses one of the most important moments in Spain's recent history. After painstaking research and documentation, the work has been published by the prestigious publishing house Sílex Ediciones.

Julio Sanz traces an entertaining and complete journey through that magical date in the memory of so many in which Spain was once again presented to the world through a series of major international events.

It was the year of the Universal Exhibition in Seville, the Olympic Games in Barcelona and many other initiatives such as the V Centenary of the Discovery of America. In addition, other projects such as the European Cultural Capital of Madrid, the Ibero-American Summits and the launch of the Cervantes Institute completed that magical date in 1992.

The mascots Curro and Cobi, the spectacular lighting of the Barcelona 92 cauldron with an arrow streaking across the sky and the replicas of Columbus' ships sailing again have remained in the memory of many. In addition, elements such as the fight against terrorism, the political struggle, nationalism and the economic crisis were also present on that date.

The work is aimed at a general public with the aim of discovering all the secrets of that magnificent date when Spain once again rubbed shoulders with the great international powers. Its recent launch is being received with great interest by the public and is already available in all bookshops and on major platforms such as La Casa del Libro, Fnac and Amazon.

Julio Sanz holds a PhD in Contemporary History from the Complutense University of Madrid. He has carried out research stays in centres such as the Spanish School of History and Archaeology of the CSIC in Rome, the University of Nottingham and the National Autonomous University of Mexico. He has participated in many conferences and seminars and is the author of several academic articles. He currently combines his research with his work as a teacher.
