Three Cultures Foundation Tuesday Film Day dedicated to Moroccan productions: ‘My father is not dead’

Coinciding with the celebration of the Morocco in Three Cultures programme, in November the Foundation is offering a cycle dedicated to Moroccan cinema, an industry whose international recognition has been growing in recent decades, from being a mere stage thanks to its beautiful landscapes and light, to being a prolific country in terms of its cinematographic production and heterogeneity.
Throughout the month of November, we will be screening four successful local films that reflect the tastes of the majority of Moroccans, first shown in large cinemas and, for some years now, in the comfort of the home via large platforms that allow us to establish a fairly accurate image of Moroccan society.
Tuesday, 26 November, 8.30pm.
My father is not dead. Adil El Fadili. Morocco, 2023, 100 min.
Malik and his father Mehdi live in an amusement park where they work as handymen. Mehdi gives his son five special paintings. Curious, Malik is dazzled by the beauty of these works. The next day, the two of them accidentally meet in the middle of a political rally. Mehdi is mistreated in front of Malik by two policemen who accuse him of propaganda against the government. That same night, the police burst into the amusement park and arrested Mehdi. Shocked, Malik begins to search for his father with the help of the other carnival-goers, finding answers in the paintings his father has left behind.
