Expectations of growth for Catalan and Spanish businessmen in Morocco are very high

Foment del Treball has been representing businessmen and industrialists in Catalonia since 1771. It is an independent, private, non-profit organisation, whose objectives include being a social leader and a point of reference for public opinion in favour of the progress of Catalonia as an economic engine of south-western Europe and the Mediterranean basin, promoting a favourable environment for productive activity in dialogue with the public authorities and representatives of civil society.
Ramón Palou, vice-president of the International Commission of Foment del Treball, spoke to Atalayar after his speech at the business forum in Barcelona.
Mr. Palou, thank you for your attention. What is your assessment of this "Doing Business", this event to bring together and learn about investment opportunities in the Tangiers-Tetouan-Al Hoceima region?
Thank you very much. I attach great importance to it, as I said in my presentation, because I really believe that it is a region that has extraordinary possibilities and expectations. We must make an effort to make it better known than it is known and I believe that we can achieve great satisfaction for the business community, which, in short, is my responsibility as head of the International Commission of Foment del Treball.
Moreover, with the new Investment Charter approved by the Moroccan government, there are many possibilities and guarantees for businesspeople to invest in many emerging sectors with great potential.
Indeed, Morocco and, above all, the region we are talking about, Tangiers-Tetouan-Al Hoceima, has tremendous possibilities. Another very important aspect on which we must all reflect is proximity. I always say in my speeches that Morocco is right in front of us, we are neighbours, to the extent that we can swim there, we are so close. And indeed, the expectations for growth that we have, both for Spanish and Catalan businessmen and for the Moroccans themselves who are encouraged to come, are very high.

In this sense, the organisation of the 2030 Football World Cup is a prospect that opens up many expectations and joint business units.
Obviously, this event will be very important because, as I said before, it will allow us to get to know all these expectations and see them first hand.
Thank you very much, Mr Palou, and let us hope that you can do good business in this region and that Moroccan businessmen will also come to invest in Catalonia.
Thank you and let us hope so.
