Morocco offers companies a favourable business environment and legal and political security

The Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima region is one of the most dynamic regions in Morocco in terms of business opportunities and facilities for foreign companies and investors wishing to establish themselves in this country. On the occasion of the holding of the business forum in the Port of Barcelona, Atalayar had the opportunity to interview Taoufik El Bourch, Vice-President of the Regional Council of Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima, the organisation in charge of the external promotion of the region.
What is your assessment of the "Doing Business in Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima Region" event in Barcelona?
First of all, I would like to thank the Atalayar team for their work. This newspaper is accompanying the most important stages that Morocco is going through, especially at the economic level, in the framework of Spanish-Moroccan relations, and for this reason we would like to thank them for this coverage. As for the meeting in question, it is an excellent opportunity for Moroccan and Spanish investors and business project promoters to exchange their experiences in order to develop investments in the Tangiers-Tetouan-Al Hoceima region on the one hand, and in the Catalonia region on the other.
We would also like to thank the organisers of this meeting, especially the Regional Investment Centre of Tangiers-Tetouan-Al Hoceima, which brought together many Catalan and Moroccan participants, who are our partners in economic activity. There is a great need to pool accumulated experience in order to consolidate Spanish-Moroccan relations in the common interest of both countries.

What sectors would you mainly recommend to Catalan investors interested in coming to Tangiers-Tetouan-Al Hoceima?
Thanks to the PDR regional development programme, recently approved by the Ministry of the Interior, we have been able to create an investment support fund whose specifications specify a series of criteria. This fund is aimed at all types of enterprises, from cooperatives to micro, small and large enterprises. All these projects invest in economic sectors that are a priority for us, such as waste recycling, renewable energies and those related to the blue economy. These are all sectors that are subsidised in the Tangiers-Tetouan-Al Hoceima region. In addition, the fund is also available to all foreign entrepreneurs who want to invest in Morocco, and to Moroccan entrepreneurs living in Spain. We are at the disposal of all of them.

In addition to good business opportunities, Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima offers investors quality of life: those who set up a business in the region have good schools for their children, the opportunity to practice numerous sports, excellent gastronomy...
Indeed, this is a very important observation and a very good question: the Tangiers-Tetouan-Al Hoceima region offers all investors a high quality of life, especially in terms of food, infrastructure and a skilled workforce that is very willing to work with investors. The infrastructures in this region are of the highest standard, in addition to the guaranteed support of investors at all levels, from human resources to financing and guidance. Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima is therefore considered to be one of the best regions in the country and has a very promising future.

Spanish companies working in Tangier highlight the great geopolitical stability and the guarantees offered by the Investment Charter to make good investments.
It is true, and this applies not only to this region, but to Morocco as a whole, from Tangier to La Güera. It is a representation of the nature of the Moroccan, who is a generous and altruistic man. As far as the political climate is concerned, Morocco offers companies a favourable business environment that allows them to work comfortably, with guaranteed legal and political conditions, making it easier for them to operate safely, just as if they were working in their own country. From the Regional Council of Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima we would like to welcome Spanish companies, whom we consider as partners in the development process of our region, just as we consider ourselves partners in the development of Catalonia.
