GNV announces a new travel route between Morocco and Spain

Grandi Navi Veloci (GNV) has just issued a statement announcing an expansion of its travel network. The company will launch a new route linking Morocco and Spain via the ports of Nador and Almeria. Travellers from both countries will be able to enjoy this new line which reinforces the company's presence throughout the Mediterranean Sea.
"We are very proud to inaugurate our new line connecting the city of Almeria with the Moroccan port of Nador. This connection is part of the logic of gradually increasing our offer to meet market demand in terms of services and routes and thus demonstrating the company's commitment and strengthening its presence in the Mediterranean," Matteo Catani, CEO of the Italian brand, said in the statement.
This route between the Andalusian city and the Alawi country will be operated with the help of ro-pax Aurelia, a Cyprus-based company dedicated to passenger control and manufacturing. The ship, which will travel between the two ports, will have a length of more than 1,000 linear metres and a capacity to transport around 650 cars. In addition, the ship will have spaces dedicated exclusively to the enjoyment of passengers. Passengers will be able to entertain themselves during the journey in the cinema, restaurants, pizzeria, bar and a self-service restaurant. However, if they want to relax, the company offers 420 cabins with a capacity to accommodate up to 2,260 passengers.
On 20 July at 22:30 at night, the new NGV service will start in the Mediterranean. The company has already announced that since 7 July, bookings have been open for anyone wishing to travel between Europe and Africa from Spain. From its launch date, the Aurelia will operate ten trips per week.
The company also confirms that it has been talking to the authorities in both countries for some time about making this route operational. "On 5 June last, we held a meeting in Tangier to reaffirm our commitment and our constant presence and to develop a benefit for Moroccans all over the world, with an increase from four to six ships available for connections with Morocco," Catani stresses in the statement.
GNV is thus imposing its presence in the Kingdom, one of its main passenger points and one of the most profitable in terms of economic benefits. This new line reaffirms the importance of the company in the Moroccan market and, with it, it intends to impose itself as the main transport firm between Morocco and other European coastal cities.
For this reason, GNV wanted to recall the importance of its brand and stresses that, since 2007, it has not stopped expanding its network of connections between Spain, Italy, France and Morocco. "The new line will reinforce GNV's presence in the Mediterranean, the company has recently consolidated its presence in Morocco with the increase in transport capacity on the Barcelona-Tangier and Barcelona-Nador lines, in addition to the Genoa-Tangier, Séte-Tangier and Séte-Nador lines, operated from Italy and France," the company states. It also mentions that since the start of its Mediterranean adventure, the company's ships have provided six routes to Morocco from the main European ports with fortnightly connections.
Grandi Navi Veloci is one of the main companies operating in the Mediterranean and one of the most important Italian firms in the country and the coastal regions. The company was founded in 1992, but it was not until 1993 that its first ship was operational. This was the Majestic, 188.15 metres long, 27.6 metres wide and capable of carrying 1,790 passengers.
Today, the brand has 19 ships in its possession and in addition to the routes mentioned in previous paragraphs, it also offers its services from other ports in cities in Sardinia, Sicily, Albania and Tunisia. The Tunisian country was its first route to North Africa from Genoa. The route was inaugurated in 2003.
