Iberdrola España and the Ronald McDonald Children's Foundation have agreed to install charging points in their shelters

Iberdrola España has signed a collaboration agreement with the Ronald McDonald Children's Foundation to install domestic charging points for electric vehicles in the institution's homes for children undergoing treatment for long-term illnesses and their families. This initiative reinforces the commitment of both entities to sustainability and seeks to facilitate cleaner and more accessible mobility.
Under this agreement, Iberdrola España will undertake the technical assessment and complete installation of the charging infrastructure at no cost to the Foundation. Iberdrola assumes this investment as an ‘action of a free and supportive nature,’ as part of its social action plan and its strategy to accelerate the electrification of transport in Spain.
For its part, the Ronald McDonald Children's Foundation will provide the necessary space for the installation and will actively collaborate to speed up the work. Once the installation has been completed and commissioning has been formalised, the Foundation will assume ownership of the charging points, as well as their management, operation, and maintenance in the future.
"At Iberdrola Spain we are convinced that emission-free mobility that guarantees the air quality of our cities is possible, which is why our plan to expand charging points covers every corner of our territory. This agreement with the Ronald McDonald Foundation allows us to continue bringing electric mobility to the whole of society and shows that alliances are essential to create a fairer and better world", said Antonio Armengot, Iberdrola Spain's sales representative for Madrid.
Luisa Masuet, President of the Ronald McDonald Children's Foundation Spain, said: "For the Ronald McDonald Children's Foundation, this agreement with Iberdrola Spain is a further step in our mission to offer the greatest convenience and service to our beneficiary families. With these charging points in all Ronald McDonald Houses, families with sick children and who are also electric car users will only have to worry about one thing, dedicating maximum time and care to their children and forgetting about everything else.
This project is a clear example of strategic collaboration to generate a positive impact on society. The new charging points will be exclusively for access and use by the families of the children in the Foundation's care.
The agreement does not imply any financial consideration between the parties, underlining its supportive nature and their common goal of ‘promoting the implementation and use of new sustainable models of electric mobility.’
The Foundation is dedicated to the implementation and maintenance of initiatives in favour of the welfare of children, through advice and funding for the creation of the so-called ‘Ronald McDonald Houses.’ These are temporary stays for children undergoing treatment for long-term illnesses and their families. The ‘Ronald McDonald Houses’ offers a place of rest and relaxation for the families of hospitalised children. The Ronald McDonald Houses are in the following locations:
- Ronald McDonald House Seville: Calle Dr. Rafael Martínez Domínguez, 5, 41013, Seville.
- Ronald McDonald House Barcelona: Pg. de la Vall d'Hebron, 59, Gracia, 08035 Barcelona

Iberdrola España has more than 45,000 public and private charging points. With more than 9,500 public recharging points with a 100% renewable origin guarantee, its network is the most extensive in Spain.
In the area of domestic charging, Iberdrola España offers comprehensive solutions for charging electric vehicles at home, including the installation of charging points and price plans adapted to the needs of users, where it stands out for having the most competitive rate on the market, allowing 1,000 km to be covered for five euros.
Customers can request a quote and manage the procedures through Iberdrola's website or the Smart Mobility application. In addition, the company offers discounts and special promotions for domestic recharging, such as a 50% discount on recharges through the Smart Advanced Assistant.
The mobility plan, launched by the company in 2016, was a pioneer in its implementation. Its public infrastructure design is being developed on highways and corridors as well as in cities and small towns with the aim of having at least one fast charging station every 50 km or less.
