New impetus for the Moroccan aeronautical industry. The American company Pratt & Whitney, an RTX (Raytheon Technologies Corporation) company, has announced the creation of a subsidiary in Casablanca: Pratt & Whitney Morocco (PWM).

The construction works of this plant will begin during the fourth quarter of 2023, so it is expected to be operational in 2025. The 12,075 m2 facility will be built based on efficiency and quality, while also reducing costs. Likewise, PWM will serve to bring the US company closer to African markets, which will boost the growth of the aerospace sector in the region and the continent.

PWM will be dedicated to the manufacture of static and mechanical parts for various models, according to Le360. This investment is essential for the strategy of the company -in charge of manufacturing the engine of the F-35 fighter-, which consists of "developing profitable supply capacities to be competitive and optimize its productive presence", indicates Aujourd'hui Le Maroc.

The Kingdom was chosen after a global comparative analysis. Finally, thanks to its growing aeronautical industry, favorable business situation and skilled workforce, Morocco has been the selected nation.

“Morocco offers many benefits for aerospace manufacturing,” said Maria Della Posta, president of Pratt & Whitney Canada. “Casablanca's growing aerospace community ensures a highly valuable talent pool, a positive economic environment and the support of the Government of Morocco,” he added.

Della Posta has also indicated that the Moroccan subsidiary will create 200 high-quality jobs by 2030. For this reason, it has expressed its desire to join the Midparc Casablanca Free Zone business area.

On the other hand, the secretary of the Ministry of Industry and Commerce of Morocco, Taoufiq Moucharraf, has celebrated the election of Pratt & Whitney, a decision that "will open up new opportunities for collaboration and business and is part of the Moroccan aeronautical dynamics based on advanced technological innovation and demanding." "The Moroccan aeronautical industry is home to one of the major players in the global aeronautical sector," he stressed.

For his part, a representative of the Moroccan Ministry of Investment -quoted by the North Africa Post- assured that Pratt & Whitney's investment in the Kingdom "will strengthen the nation's aerospace ecosystem" and "will promote innovation, research and development of new technologies”. Likewise, the creation of this subsidiary will create job opportunities and open new partnerships between local and international actors, who will be able to exchange knowledge.
