The order will support the expansion of the Louta project and increase production at the Benguerir project, which will increase output threefold, where Weir will provide separation and delamination solutions using the renowned WARMAN slurry pump and CAVEX hydrocyclone technology.

After the first phase of the project in 2024, the Benguerir expansion will begin with an estimated mine life of more than 100 years.

The OCP Group is the world's leading phosphate producer and has contributed significantly to Morocco's economic growth, consolidating its position as the world's leading fertiliser manufacturer. Jon Stanton, CEO of Weir Group, was pleased with the deal, saying he was ‘looking forward to working with OCP’.

‘We are pleased to have secured this important contract. It represents a strong endorsement of our WARMAN and CAVEX ranges that provide energy efficient separation on a large scale to support our customers‘ productivity and sustainability goals,’ said Jon Stanton, CEO of Weir, on the contract award.

The company announced that its service centre in Morocco will manage this initiative, located close to the project sites to ensure optimal integration and maintenance. According to the statement, the 325 million dirham contract will not impact Weir's financial outlook for 2024, despite being a significant addition to its customer portfolio.

‘Along with our industry-leading solutions, we promise our clients a first-class service; our local team is delighted to continue to deliver for OCP as they get the initial phase underway at Benguerir and look to expand these exciting projects,’ it added.

The growth of the Benguerir and Louta projects demonstrates OCP's commitment to meeting the growing global demand for agricultural products, prioritising sustainability and innovation. As a global supplier of phosphates, Morocco continues on its path towards a completely green and emission-free production.

Agreements such as the one reached with Weir Group are a sign of the country's commitment to implementing sustainable energy solutions that support and maintain Morocco's leadership in the sector.
