The airline company Hélity is already finalising the procedures to be able to carry out its new route, which will link the Moroccan sites of Tangier and Tetuan with the Cadiz municipality of Algeciras. According to the CEO of Hélity, Antonio Barranco, "it could be an opportunity for Ceuta, Andalusia and Morocco". The company director affirms that he has already obtained "all the permits from the National Airports and Air Navigation Agency (AENA), the National Aviation Safety Agency (AESA), the Guardia Civil and the Police" on the Spanish side, also stating that, on the Moroccan side, "everything is on the right track".

Once the translated insurance documents have been provided, only the last step will remain for this line to be put into operation: the approval, by the Council of Ministers of the Spanish Government, of the declaration of the heliport of Algeciras as a Schengen border, a designation already held by the seaport of this city. The Schengen area is all the territories of the States to which the provisions on the abolition of internal border controls and the movement of persons apply in full. At present, the company Hélity has registered a total of 83,100 travellers in 2022.

That is why the CEO of the airline company expressed that, once the Christmas holidays are over, "the Government delegate will meet with the sub-delegate of the Government in Cadiz to see how they could hold a meeting with the Secretary of State of the Ministry of the Interior to try to get the declaration of the heliport of Algeciras as a Schengen border to be carried out as soon as possible". The operability of this new air route would mean having a wider range of links which, in the case of the autonomous city, would be key when it comes to being able to reach the neighbouring country by other routes other than land.

Currently, the entity is manoeuvring on the lines connecting the heliport of Ceuta with those of the cities of Algeciras and Malaga. This is an air connection between the north of Africa and the south of Europe which revolutionises the usual way of linking the two continents. This new route will provide a new alternative to travelling the kilometres that separate the two sides of the Strait of Gibraltar, which were traditionally done by sea. In addition, the company also offers the opportunity to provide its customers with an express cargo and goods service, with all customs clearance included.

Once the last formalities are completed to be able to start operating the route that will link Algeciras with the Moroccan cities of Tangier and Tetouan, the Spanish company will continue with its growth in business volume. This will join the different services that Hélity already provides and whose last one to be incorporated has been a very exclusive one in which the user can request a specific destination place and, according to a previous evaluation by the company, be able to carry out this work. This service comes thanks to a collaboration agreement with the company iJet Aviation.

In an interview with Cadena Cope in Ceuta, Antonio Barranco explained that this agreement "came about a little by chance, because after a service we had to do with the City Council of Malaga, communication with iJet arose", which is why they offer exclusive transfers from airports to specific locations. The new link is special, especially because it will connect two continents (North Africa and Europe) separated by the Strait of Gibraltar and traditionally linked by sea. Hélity plans to provide its customers with an express freight and cargo service and, thanks to its alliance with iJet Aviation, exclusive transfers will be made, said Hélity's CEO.
