La Policía de Casablanca endurece las medidas contra la COVID-19

The contagion curve in Morocco continues to climb. According to the latest cases reported by covidmaroc.ma, in the last 24 hours the North African country has recorded 1,772 cases, almost half of them in the Casablanca-Settat region.
It is in this coastal area that COVID-19 has had the greatest presence, with more than 5,000 cases. The regional authorities have therefore stepped up measures to prevent further spread of the virus.
Boubker Sabik, the spokesman for the Directorate-General of National Security (DGSN), said this morning that the Casablanca police were carrying out several police operations, including the raid on 54 hotels over the past week and on other tourist establishments. All these places had been reported for not implementing the necessary sanitary measures. According to the police, in the last seven days 118 violations have been registered in tourist establishments with regard to the implementation of measures against the spread of COVID-19.

Sabik, during a press conference held at the Casablanca police prefecture, said that "the Director General of National Security has given firm orders regarding the strict application of legal and organisational provisions relating to tourist units, in order to enforce the state of public health emergency and fight the spread of the pandemic".
The proper functioning of hotels, restaurants and cafes requires that they comply with measures to preserve the health of citizens and follow the strict application of the provisions of the law regarding entry and stay in Morocco, said the DGSN spokesman.
The reported infection of an official in the Fida-Mers Sultan district last week raised all alarms about the measures taken by local authorities to protect their employees from the spread of the virus.
