The Princess of Girona Foundation announced the name of the winner of the Award in the Social category during the Princess of Girona CongressFest, part of the main event of the Talent Tour in Cadiz and presented by Begoña Arana and Miriam Reyes, Princess of Girona Social Award winners in 2019 and 2017, respectively. A jury of experts met this morning at the Palacio de Congresos de Cádiz to decide which project deserved the award and decided that the work of Daniel Millor Vela and Berta Argenté Izquierdo would be finalists. Finally, the jury decided to recognise the trajectory of Daniel Millor Vela for "his vital commitment as an architect and social and solidarity activist; promoting the community regeneration of vulnerable neighbourhoods, empowering their inhabitants in the development of their own wellbeing and improvement of their health".
From a leadership with purpose, Daniel weaves networks for social transformation, promoting the connection between knowledge and practice. An innovative and replicable approach involving people in the construction of their homes and neighbourhoods.

The award winner, present at the main event of the Tour del talento, expressed his gratitude for the award and stated that "the people who are changing the neighbourhoods are in the neighbourhoods and we have to transform the systems so that these people have all the possible support and tools to change their environment and thus transform the world on a small scale".
The jury was chaired by Consuelo Crespo, former president of UNICEF Spain, and comprised Héctor Colunga, social entrepreneur and 2015 Princess of Girona Social Award winner, who acted as secretary; Therese Jamaa, vice-president of the Spanish Red Cross Foundation; Irene Milleiro, director of ASHOKA Spain; Isabel de Oriol, former president of the Spanish Association Against Cancer (AECC) and its Scientific Foundation; Sergio Rodríguez, vice-rector of the Abat Oliba CEU University and Nacho Sequeira, director of the Exit Foundation and winner of the 2010 Entity Award.
Daniel Millor Vela (Alicante, 1990)
Daniel is an architect with a degree from the Polytechnic School of the University of Alicante. He is the coordinator of the Asertos desde Quatorze Programme and Arquitectura Sin Fronteras. His work is based on the conviction that everyone should have an adequate home and work, and that community participation is the greatest engine for social change.
Thus, some of their social initiatives seek the community regeneration of vulnerable neighbourhoods, areas of our cities that suffer the consequences of social, economic and residential problems. These social projects have enabled nine buildings to be fully rehabilitated and sixty-seven emergency interventions to be carried out (electrical and structural risk, damp, etc.). Its initiatives have been recognised by UN Habitat Mexico in 2021 and have earned it the award for social innovation from "la Caixa" Welfare Projects in 2022.
